Fill It Track

Wednesday April 14

IPTV: Is It Getting Better?
1:00-2:00 p.m.
Long viewed as the ultimate application and lynchpin of the "triple play" strategy needed to keep customers connected to the landline, IPTV has seen its share of challenges. Technological improvements, lessons learned (sometimes the hard way) and real-life business cases, combined with hindsight, permit the industry to take a more accurate look at where IPTV stands today, and where it is going in the future.

Cloud Computing Strategies
2:15-3:15 p.m.
Get beyond the buzzwords, and examine whether the convenience and security of cloud computing might be the "killer app" that brings customers to you, and makes them stay. This session will consider which circumstances are more favorable to offering cloud computing to businesses, residential users, or both. Does it make sense to do it in-house, or to outsource? Find out what makes sense for you and your customers.

Smart Grid Opportunities
3:30-4:30 p.m.
The government is actively considering policies to encourage homes, businesses and power companies to use technology in order to maximize energy efficiency. Find out what new technologies and processes are being contemplated, and how the services you offer can play a role.

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Over-the-Top Video
1:00-2:00 p.m.
The traditional subscription video market is increasingly threatened by online content. At the same time, some key content providers are imposing the cable TV "per subscriber" pricing model on rural broadband providers. Technology and marketplace trends are once again outpacing the regulators. This session will keep you up to date on these fast-paced developments.

Voice 2.0
2:15-3:15 p.m.
Cheap or free VoIP attracts one set of customers, but will high-quality and enhanced voice services attract others who are willing to pay for quality? With enough bandwidth, "HD Voice," currently used in some teleconferencing products, makes callers sound like they are with you in the room. As telework continues to spread, and aging populations demand better audio, voice applications enhanced with convenient features and more clarity could develop into an increasingly attractive offering. This session will see where HD Voice is heading.

Utilizing Your Network for Local Economic Development
3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Rural carriers have always been integral parts of the communities they serve. As broadband becomes increasingly critical to an area's economic viability, your carrier's role is becoming even more crucial. Learn how other carriers have leveraged their broadband networks to inject vitality into the local economy.
